Tour 12C: Canadian Rockies Extravaganza Tour (10 Days, 10 Nights)

From the urban rush of Vancouver and the coastal charm of Victoria, through the parched semi-airid desert and the supremely majestic Canadian Rockies, to the vast open expanse of the Canadian prairies- not to mention the trip back in time at the Royal Tyrell Dinosaur museum- this tour has everything!

Day 1 We’ll depart for Victoria via BC Ferries. We'll visit the world famous Butchart Gardens before heading into Victoria to tour the city. We'll visit Oak Bay, Craigdarroch Castle as well as Government House, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor, the representative of Her Majesty the Queen in British Columbia.

Day 2 Rise and Shine for whalewatching! We'll head out to visit the whales before spending the afternoon exploring the streets of the city. Shop in trendy shops along Johnston Street or in Bastion Square or visit the antique shops along Fort Street.

Day 3 We'll be off to Vancouver today. Once we've arrived in Vancouver, we'll tour the city visiting all the highlights such as Granville Island, Yaletown, Chinatown, Gastown, Stanley Park and Grouse Mountain. Your evening is free to explore the Robson Street fashion district.

Day 4 An excellent day for visiting wineries! Heading out of Vancouver along the culturally exciting Commercial Drive, we'll make our way to a couple of Fraser Valley wineries, one of them an award-winning fruit winery. We'll travel along the locally famous Zero Avenue that runs along the border with the United States and stop for a stretch and even bite to eat in the seaside village of White Rock.

Day 5 Heading out early in the morning, we'll head up the mighty Fraser Canyon and into semi-airid desert. We'll stop for photos in one of the most rugged river systems in the world, ending our day in one of British Columbia's favourite ski resorts. Golf is an option upon arrival.

Day 6 Today's the day we'll enter the Canadian Rockies! Stopping for waterfalls and lunch, we'll arrive into Jasper just in time for dinner. Explore the quaint village before digging into a hearty dinner of prime-rib!

Day 7 A day for two boat rides in the Canadian Rockies. The first is a gentle water rafting trip to experience the Canadian Rockies the way they were meant to be experienced! Away from the roads and in the middle of the Athabasca River, you'll discover the peace and adventure a mountain river can provide. In the afternoon, we'll explore the Maligne River valley before heading to Spirit Island by boat, a place completely inaccessible by car and the ultimate antidote to urban stress.

Day 8 Heading out of Jasper, we'll travel along the Icefields Parkway, a surperlative stretch of road dubbed "Twenty Switzerlands in One!" We'll stop at waterfalls, glaciers, mountain vistas for photos that will amaze you! We'll visit the Icefields Centre, giving you the chance to stand on the Athabasca Glacier before entering Banff National Park, stopping at Peyto and Bow Lakes, ending the day in Lake Louise.

Day 9 Starting out mid-morning, we'll visit places in Banff and Yoho National Parks that will leave you in awe. We'll visit the engineering marvel of the Spiral Tunnels, the astounding Takakkaw Falls and the tranquil Emerald Lake Lodge as well as the impressive Moraine Lake.

Day 10 Stopping in Banff for a little shopping and exploring, we head into Calgary, one of Canada's most metropolitan cities. We'll visit the Banff Springs Hotel and Bow Falls as well as go for a heli-tour of the Canadian Rockies. After crossing the foothills out onto the prairies, we arrive at our hotel.

Day 11 Stepping out onto the Canadian prairies and back into pre-historic times, we visit the Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology (Canada's best dinosaur museum) in Drumheller. You'll be amazed by the contrast between the Rockies to the West and the wide open space to the East.
